Destruction of Beautiful Downtown Orlando Goldie The Reluctant Reindeer Ronnie and the Moxie Circus
"Two of Florida's most infamous coke dealers agreed to join ranks in unholy matrimony in the summer of 1983. The photographs I made of the wedding were never claimed. Seems the night of the wedding a violent shouting match about profit sharing between the newlyweds broke out, resulting in the annulment of the vows and a parting of the ways. This is the only photograph I kept, because it so perfectly portrays the story of these high-strung blow peddlers short-term union." ~ Joe Hoover "I was chosen to direct the Christmas TV Special, "Whiz, the Elf Who Made Christmas Special," to be filmed on the stage of the Annie Russell Theater in Winter Park, Florida, 1978. Our make-up artist required "life masks" be cast of each of the actors faces, from which latex elf masks would be produced. Son Matthew, then 10 years old, asked for a casting. Matt's life mask still rests between the glass shelves of my desk, the reflection in the glass is as strong as the real mask. I rotated the photograph 90 degrees for a more interesting composition.." Every Move reflects
Every move I make
It's me, after all
This reflection of me. The morning after our big Halloween costume party of 1993, I was first up and set to work cleaning up after hobgoblins and witches and clowns. From inside and outside I collected fourteen pumpkin candles and set them on the bar between the kitchen and the dining room. The truly accidental arrangement caught my eye, so I went in search for my RB67 and some Ilford FP4. (I confess to hanging a black drape behind the characters and to providing some hot, directional lighting.) No excuses, say my muses
And, of course, I know to comply I’ve not the best body
As you can see
Nor the most entertaining
Personality
It’s just me.
The good thing
Don’t know if you’ll agree
This mostly concerns me:
I don’t come free! "This barn owl really made an impression on our front window! So powerful was the crash, dust from the owl's body and spread wings was deposited on the window glass for me to back light and photograph. The next day, someone cleaned the window . . ." ~ Joe Hoover
